Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 11, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how ScriptExpert ("ScriptExpert", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, stores and protects personal information when you visit scriptexpert.app, contact us, request support, download or license ScriptExpert Code Editor, or otherwise interact with our services.
Controller contact: legal@scriptexpert.net. Registered location: Romania, Constanta.
1. Information we may collect
1.1 Information you provide
We may collect your name, email address, telephone number, country, city, company details, billing information, support messages, product feedback, purchase or license identifiers, and any files or screenshots you voluntarily attach to a support request.
1.2 Website and technical information
Our hosting, security and analytics services may process IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referral page, pages visited, approximate location derived from IP address, timestamps, cookie identifiers and security logs. We use this information to operate the website, prevent abuse, diagnose errors and understand aggregate usage.
1.3 Purchase and payment information
When a purchase is processed by an external payment provider or marketplace, that provider processes payment card or account details under its own privacy policy. We generally receive transaction status, amount, currency, purchaser contact details, product, order or purchase code, refund status and other information needed to provide the license and support. We do not intentionally store full payment-card numbers on this website.
1.4 Product, license and update information
Depending on the edition and configuration, ScriptExpert may communicate with our licensing or update services to validate a license, check for updates, download an update, retrieve plugin information or submit feedback. Such requests may include product token, edition, application version, a purchase or license identifier, hashed machine or installation identifiers, operating system, platform, server host or IP information where relevant to the licensed product, and technical error details. We do not require raw project source code for routine license validation.
1.5 AI provider data
ScriptExpert supports third-party and local AI providers. When you choose a cloud AI provider, prompts, selected project context, file contents, images and tool results that you send through the Agent may be transmitted directly to that provider according to your configuration and the provider's terms. Local providers such as Ollama or LM Studio may process data on your own machine or a server you control. We do not control how an independent AI provider processes data, so you should review its privacy terms and avoid sending secrets or personal data unless appropriate.
2. Purposes and legal bases
We process information where necessary to perform a contract, take steps requested before entering a contract, comply with legal obligations, protect legitimate business and security interests, or where you have provided consent. Purposes include:
- Providing downloads, licenses, updates, documentation and support.
- Processing purchases, refunds, invoices and account or license administration.
- Responding to contact forms, partnership requests and feedback.
- Protecting the website, product, customers and licensing systems from fraud, abuse and unauthorized access.
- Improving product quality, reliability, user experience and documentation.
- Sending essential service messages and, where permitted, product news or marketing communications.
- Complying with tax, accounting, consumer-protection and other legal requirements.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
The website may use strictly necessary cookies for security, sessions, form protection and preferences. Optional analytics or marketing cookies should only be enabled in accordance with applicable consent requirements. You can control cookies through your browser, but blocking necessary cookies may prevent forms or other functions from working correctly.
4. Sharing of information
We may share information with service providers that help us host the website, deliver email, process payments, provide support, detect fraud, maintain infrastructure, distribute downloads or perform accounting and legal services. These providers may only process information for the contracted purpose and must apply appropriate safeguards.
We may disclose information where required by law, court order or lawful authority, or where reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, property, users, the public or the integrity of our products and services. If the business is reorganized, merged, sold or transferred, relevant information may transfer subject to confidentiality and applicable law.
We do not sell personal information to advertisers.
5. International transfers
Some providers, including hosting, email, payment and AI providers, may process information outside your country or the European Economic Area. Where required, we use recognized safeguards such as adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses or another lawful transfer mechanism. Your use of an independently selected AI provider is also governed by that provider's location and contractual terms.
6. Retention
We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above. Typical retention periods may include: contact and support correspondence for up to three years after closure; transaction, tax and invoice records for the legally required accounting period; security logs for a limited operational period; and license records for the life of the license plus a reasonable period for fraud prevention and dispute handling. We may retain anonymized or aggregated information that no longer identifies an individual.
7. Security
We apply reasonable administrative, technical and organizational measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, alteration or disclosure. These may include encryption in transit, access controls, logging, backups, restricted administrator access and separation of payment processing. No internet or storage system is completely secure, so you remain responsible for protecting your device, account, API keys, FTP credentials, local models and project backups.
8. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy of information, withdraw consent, and complain to a data-protection authority. Some rights are subject to legal exceptions, identity verification and record-retention duties.
To exercise a right, email legal@scriptexpert.net and describe your request. We may ask for information needed to verify your identity and locate relevant records.
9. Children's privacy
Our website and professional development software are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children without appropriate authorization. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information improperly.
10. Third-party links and services
The website and application may link to support systems, communities, payment providers, marketplaces, plugin vendors, AI providers and other third parties. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. We are not responsible for independent third-party websites or services.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when our product, website, providers or legal obligations change. We will publish the revised policy with a new effective date and provide additional notice where legally required.
12. Contact
Privacy questions may be sent to legal@scriptexpert.net or through the contact form.
